Alors qu'ils sont à bord de leur voiture sur une petite route, un couple est arrêté par un prisonnier qui vient juste de s'évader et les prend en otage. Durant la fuite, ils s'arrêtent dans une station essence. Malheureusement pour eux, la situation en ce lieu est critique puisque qu'une forme de vie inconnue s'y développe et, prenant possession des corps humains qu'elle transforme hideusement, pousse les uns et les autres à s'entretuer sauvagement. Le couple et le taulard devront alors trouver un moyen de travailler ensemble pour survivre à cette horreur indicible...

A young couple retreats to the wilderness for a romantic camping weekend, but their romantic idyll is shattered when they are car-jacked by an escaped convict and his girlfriend on the run from the police. As the foursome travel the backroads together, each plotting their next move, they find themselves in deeper trouble than any of them could have imagined — a blood-crazed, parasitic creature that absorbs the corpses of its victims has laid claim to the woods, and the two couples are now in its sights. Finding shelter at an abandoned gas station, they must use their wits and every weapon at their disposal to stave off the onslaught, not only from the insatiable creature, but also each other....

Né à Londres le 27 Mai 1972 où il a grandi, Toby Wilkins - fils du dramaturge et romancier Christopher Wilkins - a déménagé à Los Angeles en 1996 pour poursuivre une carrière dans l'industrie du cinéma. Il a principalement travaillé dans les effets visuels et la conception des séquences titres de longs métrages avant de se consacrer à la réalisation.

Depuis 1999, ses courts métrages ont reçu une reconnaissance à certains des plus prestigieux festivals du cinéma, dont le festival de Sundance où il a par plusieurs fois rencontré le succès si bien que en 2003 et 2004, il a fait parti du jury du festival.

En 2002, son court-métrage comique I Lost 20lbs In Two Months, Ask Me How fut présenté au festival de Sundance. Aujourd'hui encore, il reste dans le Top 10 des comédies sur le site "AOL Comedy spécial".

Son court thriller Starring at the Sun rencontra un grand succès en 2005 au festival de Sundance et fut même montré dans vingt-cinq autres festivals à travers le monde. Le court-métrage reçut plusieurs récompenses dont celle du Meilleur Court-Métrage d'Horreur au Stan Winston's ScreamFest de Los Angeles.

Au printemps 2006, Toby Wilkins fait équipe avec l'écrivain Ben Acker pour créer Kidney Thieves, une comédie noire basée sur une légende populaire urbaine. Les acteurs Ethan Embry, Paget Brewster et Paul F. Tompkins participent au projet qui reçoit le Prix du Public pour un court-métrage au Festival du Cinéma d'Austin. Le film a aussi été visioné au AFI Fest de Los Angeles ainsi que dans d'autres festivals.

La récompense de Starring at the Sun au ScreamFest de Los Angeles permit à Toby Wilkins d'attirer l'attention de Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman) et de sa compagnie Gost House Pictures. Ghost House demanda à Wilkins d'écrire, de produire et de réaliser un certain nombre de courts-métrages à partir de piège à souris, une terrible mise en garde au sujet de "ne collez votre nez n'importe où".

Puis, Sam Raimi choisit Wilkins pour diriger et produire les Tales from The Grudge, une série de courts-métrages destinés à assurer le promotion du film The Grudge 2. Les courts-métrages sont disponibles sur Internet dont le site doyouhaveagrudge.com.

En plus de diriger, Toby Wilins a servi en tant que producteur, responsable de la photographie, de post-production superviseur, responsable des effets visuels sur des projets de films avec des metteurs en scène tels que Brett Ratner ou James Cameron.

Born and raised in London, England - the youngest son of playwright and novelist Christopher Wilkins - Toby relocated to Los Angeles in 1996 to pursue a career in the film industry and worked primarily in visual effects and title sequence design for feature films until turning his hand to directing.

Since 1999 his short films have received recognition at some of the world's most prestigious film festivals including multiple acceptances to the Sundance Film Festival where he has found repeated success including co-directing official trailers for the festival in 2003 and 2004.

In 2002 his off-beat short comedy I Lost 20lbs In Two Months, Ask Me How premiered at Sundance. The short stars veteran voice actor John Di Maggio (Futurama) and was picked up for distribution at Sundance. It remains in the top ten on "AOL's Comedy Special" comedy showcase.

His short thriller Staring at the Sun enjoyed a successful festival run that began with the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and has played at more than 25 other festivals around the world. The film received several awards including Best Horror Short at Stan Winston's ScreamFest LA.

In spring 2006 Toby teamed with writer Ben Acker to create Kidney Thieves, a short black comedy based on the popular urban legend. The film stars Ethan Embry, Paget Brewster and Paul F. Tompkins and premiered at the Austin Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Short. The film went on to play AFI Fest in Los Angeles and more.

The ScreamFest award for Staring at the Sun brought Toby's work to the attention of director Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider Man) and his horror production company Ghost House Pictures. Ghost House commissioned Toby to write, produce and direct a number of short horror films starting with Mousetrap, a shocking cautionary tale about sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.

Raimi then chose Toby to direct and produce Tales From The Grudge, a series of short horror films to promote the film The Grudge 2. The shorts premiered on movies.yahoo.com and were featured on more than a dozen other movie related web sites including doyouhaveagrudge.com.

In addition to directing, Toby has served as producer, cinematographer, post-production supervisor, editor and visual effects artist on film projects with directors ranging from indie first-timers to luminaries including Brett Ratner, and James Cameron.

He directed one feature film, Splinter and the direct-to-video sequel The Grudge 3.

Shea Wigham fut révélé grâce au film Tigerland de Joel Schumacher où il faisait face à Colin Farrel. Il est apparu depuis dans une vingtaine de films dont Bad Company, All the Real Girls, Les Seigneurs des Dogtown, Wristcutters: A Love Story, First Snow, et prochainement dans The Killing Room. Shea a récemment tourné une nouvelle fois pour Joel Schumacher pour le thriller Creek.

Shea Whigham has been bringing his undeniable acting talent to the screen since his first major role opposite Colin Farrel in Joel Schumacher's Tigerland. Since then he has appeared in more than twenty films, including Bad Company, All the Real Girls, Lords of Dogtown, Wristcutters: A Love Story, First Snow, and upcoming The Killing Room. Shea recently worked with Schumacher again, on his new thriller Creek.
